Navigating the transition from school to a career can be overwhelming, especially for young adults trying to find their footing in a competitive job market. At Project Joy, we believe that with the right guidance, resources, and community support, every young person can discover a clear path toward a meaningful future.
This is why we are honored to be featured recently in the Valley Press, highlighting our new series of free career, college readiness, and artificial intelligence workshops designed specifically for young adults ages 18 to 26.
Project Joy founder and executive director, Kim Watson, shared with the Valley Press that our approach goes beyond the rush into finding a job. Instead, we help participants start with self-discovery—focusing on three foundational questions: “Who are you? What do you want to do? And how will you get there?”
By helping young adults research aligned career pathways, explore their unique strengths, and connect with local opportunities, we aim to bridge the gap during those critical transitional years. The program also highlights Antelope Valley College (AVC) as a vital local “launch pad” for higher education, as students can begin locally before branching out to a four-year university. Our series is also seamlessly integrating responsible, human-first artificial intelligence training to prepare youth for the modern workforce.
Ultimately, our goal is to ensure participants walk away with more than just practical skills—they leave with hope, community connections, and a clear vision for their future.
